Here are some simple shortcuts for taking screenshots on a mac. Screenshots can be useful in so many scenarios, so these quick tips will help you master all four shortcuts for screen capturing on a mac.

1. Use a marquee to select a portion of the screen you want to capture:

Press ⌘Command +⇧Shift+4

You will see your cursor turns into a cross-air. Use this to select what you want to save, and when you let go it will save an image to your desktop.

2. Take a screenshot of your entire screen:

Press ⌘Command +⇧Shift+3

This method will allow you to capture a screenshot of your entire screen.

Note: If you have more than one monitor, when using this method an image will be saved to your desktop for each monitor.

3. Copy a screenshot to your clipboard:

Press ⌘Command +⇧Shift+Control+3

You will then be able to paste the image into an email, word document, photoshop, or any other application. hint: The shortcut to paste on mac is ⌘Command +V

You can also use the marquee to select a portion of your screen to save to the clipboard. To do this use the following: ⌘Command +⇧Shift+Control+4 You will then be able to draw a rectangle around what you want to save to the clipboard. Awesome huh!

4. Take a screenshot of the current window in use:

Press ⌘Command +⇧Shift+4 and then Press Space

You will then see a camera icon appear, just click on the window you would like to screenshot and your done.
